Fixing the Water Pump on the Side of the Road
Breaking down is never fun, but if it’s going to happen, better in town than out in the middle of nowhere. Our Winnebago’s water pump decided to call it quits just as we rolled out of Chincilla, leaving us with no running water. Not ideal when you're living on the road.
We pulled over in a quiet spot and got to work. First step—confirm the pump was actually the issue. We checked fuses, connections, and the switch. Everything else seemed fine, so it had to be the pump itself. Luckily, there was a pump available a short distance away in Dalby.
Pulling the old one out was a bit of a challenge in the cramped space, but after a bit of elbow grease and some muttered cursing, it was free. Installing the new one was smoother—connect the wires, secure the hoses, tighten everything up, and hope for the best.
Moment of truth—we flicked the switch, and the pump hummed to life. Water flowed. Success!
After a quick clean-up, we rewarded ourselves with a coffee and a breather. Just another day on the road, another lesson learned, and another reason to always carry spare parts!
